How to check tax refund status

Income Tax Department has issued Rs 92,961 crore of ITR refund in the account of more than 63.23 lakh taxpayers. The Income Tax Department has issued refunds in the current financial year 2021-22 between April 1, 2021 and October 18, 2021. Let us tell you that the government has extended the last date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) for the assessment year 2021-22 to December 31, 2021. Earlier in May, CBDT extended the deadline for ITR filing till September 30, but it has been extended once again.

What could be the reasons for not getting a refund?

The Income Tax Department says that the department is in the process of communicating with the taxpayers who have not yet received their refund for the assessment year 2020-21. This will require the response of the taxpayers. According to the department, in most cases, adjustments under section 245 and mis-matching of bank accounts can lead to failure of refunds.
