The biggest sign of this is India getting the honor of ‘Country of Honor’ at the Cannes Film Festival. India got the honor of ‘Country of Honour’ for the first time in Marché Du Film, an event organized outside the Cannes Film Festival. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur himself gave this information. Appreciating the growing influence of the Indian film industry in world cinema, FICCI (FICCI) Director General Arun Chawla said that the results of the recent steps taken by the government regarding the film industry are now visible.

Arun Chawla said, India has traditionally been registering its name among the countries with the largest film industry in the world. If we look at the number of films, then India is not behind any country. India has a complete film making ecosystem and a huge human resource base. India’s film industry is also rapidly making a place in digital content. Animation, VFX and online gaming are gaining a significant position. India’s entertainment industry is currently valued at $28 billion, which is expected to reach $100 billion by 2030. The entertainment industry here is growing at a rapid rate of 12 percent every year. In the coming times, animation, VFX and online gaming will play the most important role in this entire sector.
Hosting the ‘Cannes Next’ session
Elaborating on the role of FICCI in the Cannes Film Festival, Arun Chawla said, “FICCI has been managing the India Pavilion for the last eight years, which includes interactive sessions, trailers, poster launches, networking between Indian filmmakers and their global partners. All activities related to India Pavilion including promotion of evening, co-production activity are included. The India Pavilion will also host a session titled ‘Cannes Next’. It will prove to be an innovative platform to explore the future of the entertainment sector.
