Cabinet Meeting- In the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many important decisions were approved today. This includes approval for the second phase of the Green Energy Corridor. The CCEA (Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs) took a decision in this regard today. Giving information about the decisions of the cabinet, Union Minister Anurag Thakur gave information about this. Along with this, many other important decisions have also been taken.
What is the decision of the cabinet
The cabinet has taken two decisions today, out of which the first is related to the Intra State Transmission System Green Energy Corridor. The cabinet has approved its second phase today. About 12 thousand crore rupees will be spent on the scheme. 10750 circuit kilometer transmission line will be laid through the scheme. Under Phase 2, 7 states Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu Rajasthan transmission line will be laid. At the same time, the Union Minister has informed that 80 percent work has been completed in the first phase.
What is Green Energy Corridor
According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the objective of the green energy project is to transfer electricity from eco-friendly sources like solar and wind energy to consumers through the grid with the help of conventional power stations. In 2015-16, the Ministry had approved the Intra State Transmission System Project to utilize the power generated from Green Energy. It includes 8 states Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The government now wants to reduce the share of electricity produced from coal by increasing its scope, so that the environment gets maximum benefit.
