Union Cabinet Decisions: The Union Cabinet has met today. In this meeting, the implementation of PM Gatishakti National Master Plan has been approved. PM Gatishakti National Master Plan will be monitored in a three-tier system. It will be headed by the Cabinet Secretary. After the meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur has given this information in the press conference.
An empowered group of secretaries will be formed
Anurag Thakur announced that an empowered group of secretaries would be formed. This group will be headed by the Cabinet Secretary. The group will include secretaries and heads of logistics divisions from 18 ministries. A multimodal network planning group will be formed. He said that this multimodal network planning group would be supported by a technical support unit located in the Logistics Division of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. He further informed that domain experts from all these departments like Aviation, Maritime, Public Transport, Rail, Road and Highway, Ports will be present in this Technical Support Unit i.e. TSU. Along with this subject matter experts, urban and transport planning, structure (road, building), power, pipeline, GIS etc. will be part of it.
What is PM Gati Shakti Yojana?
PM Gatishakti Yojana is the Central Government’s National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity. According to the government, this scheme will prove to be a game changer for India’s infrastructure. The government will spend Rs 107 lakh crore in this program.
The government said that the Gati Shakti Yojana is a master plan covering all the existing and planned initiatives of the ministries. Economic zone and connectivity infrastructure will be developed in this. According to the government, this will help in addressing regional and sectoral imbalances in infrastructure and connectivity. With this, employment will be created with the rapid growth of the main sectors.
All the infrastructure projects of the government will be integrated in the Gati Shakti Yojana. According to the government, this scheme will remove all the obstacles in infrastructure development.

According to the government, under this scheme the obstacles due to construction without any plan will be removed. With this, movement in the country will be possible without any hindrance. Travel time of people will be reduced. With this, the government has said that this will also create new employment opportunities.
Apart from this, the government said that this will also improve the ease of doing business. Better planning will increase productivity. There will be less cost and delay in implementing infrastructure projects. This will also encourage investment and competition.
