Sahara Group has got a big setback from the Supreme Court today. The court today cleared the way for SFIO’s investigation against the companies of Sahara Group. In fact, the Supreme Court has set aside the order of the High Court for interim relief on the investigation of several group companies and a stay on the investigation. During the hearing, the bench allowed SFIO’s plea challenging the Delhi High Court’s decision to stay the investigation of nine group companies. The court said that after the end of the summer vacation, the matter will be disposed of expeditiously in the High Court in two months.

In fact, the Serial Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the order of the High Court to stay the investigation of nine companies related to the Sahara Group. After which the matter was heard today before the vacation bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Bela M Trivedi. The order of the SFIO Delhi High Court against which the Supreme Court appealed was dated 13 December 2021 in which the Delhi High Court stayed all subsequent proceedings against the Sahara Group chief and others, including punitive action and lookout. Notices are also included. The Supreme Court agreed to consider the SFIO’s plea on May 17, challenging the Delhi High Court order granting relief to Sahara Group companies. Today the Supreme Court has set aside the December verdict, so that now the SFIO can proceed in the direction of investigation.
