Big Basket opens its first retail outlet in Bangalore in the name of Fresho, know what is the company’s plan

Big Basket, an e-grocery company owned by the Tata Group, has opened its first retail outlet in the country. The company has opened its first store in Bangalore. The brand name of the offline store has been kept as Fresho. Fresh fruits and vegetables will be sold here.

Regarding the retail store, the company’s CEO and co-founder Hari Menon said that our plan is to open 100 fresho stores in the country by 2026. This store will be opened in 10 Tier-1 cities. Through this, the company aims for annual sales of 12 thousand crores. Menon said that in his country only Chennai has fruit and vegetable shops in a systematic manner. In such a situation, the market is open in front of Fresco. This is a big opportunity for us.

Tata Group holds 64 percent stake in the company

Tata Group holds 64 percent stake in Big Basket. For the grocery business, the company has tied up with 20 thousand farmers and has opened 60 collection centers. 85 percent of the goods sold on Big Basket come directly from the farmers. Menon said that we will give the option of click and pick to the customers on our platform. Under this, they can order fruits and vegetables online, as well as collect from the Fresho store. Our customers will have access to 50 thousand products online.

Big Basket will also start express delivery service

Menon said Big Basket will also launch express delivery service in the next few months. Under this, delivery will be done in 10-20 minutes. This service will be called BBNow. The name of such service of Flipkart is Flipkart Quick. Under this service, Flipkart can deliver your goods to you in 90 minutes. Apart from this, there are many e-commerce platforms that provide quick service.

Target to add 6 lakh kirana stores

Regarding the acquisition by the Tata Group, Menon said that after this deal, Big Basket got access to the Tata Group of companies. We are associated in B2B business model with Kirana stores. At present we have about 75 thousand grocery stores in our network. Their number has to be increased to 6 lakhs. This will also include products from Tata Consumer. There is good synergy between the Tata Group and Big Basket on this front.
