Data from the Ministry of External Affairs shows that people make common citizens victims of fraud by promising them jobs in foreign countries. In the name of fake foreign job, the agents have taken up to Rs 5 lakh from each person. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a press release that it has been observed that there has been a huge increase in the number of foreign job seekers due to unregistered recruitment agents offering fake jobs and charging Rs 2-5 lakh.

The Ministry has requested persons seeking employment abroad to use the safe and legal services of only Registered Recruitment Agents (RAs).
