Income Tax New Portal: If you are planning to file your income tax return on the new tax filing portal of the tax department this weekend, then let us tell you that the website will not be available for some time between Saturday and Sunday. A ticker is running on the new income tax portal, according to which the website will not be able to be used from 10 pm on Saturday to 10 am on Sunday. It is written in the ticker that the alert website will not be accessible due to scheduled maintenance activity from Saturday 23 October 10 PM to Sunday 24 October 10 AM Indian time. That’s why you should file your income tax return before that.
Can’t do this work
Because of this, you will not be able to access the e-filing portal to file ITR. Apart from this, you will not be able to use it to register yourself as legal heir, register your digital signature for verification of tax returns, download Form 26AS or check related information etc.
This type of scheduled maintenance is common in banks. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also announces downtime from time to time for services like RTGS, NEFT etc.
There have been problems in the new portal since the beginning
Since the launch of the new income tax portal in June 2021, the portal has been facing problems. The users of the website have been filing complaints regarding the website. These include incomplete or incorrect data related to last year’s ITR filing, slowing down of portal, non-availability of several income tax related forms etc. Many people have complained about the matters related to it by going on social media.
A month after its launch in August 2021, the website could not be accessed and the message appeared to be under maintenance. Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had given time till 15 September 2021 to Infosys, the maker of the new income tax portal, to fix all the problems related to the website. Due to repeated difficulties, many chartered account associations, taxpayers had asked the government to extend the last date for filing ITR. Currently, the last date to file ITR for the financial year 2020-21 is 31 December 2021. This last date is applicable for those whose accounts are not required to be audited.
