The country’s largest company Reliance Industries is going to make a big investment in West Bengal. Reliance will make an additional investment of Rs 20 thousand crore in the next three years. This investment will be made in retail, telecom and bio energy sectors. Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said in the 7th Bengal Global Trade Summit on Tuesday that we plan to invest additional Rs 20,000 crore in the next three years. Reliance will leave no stone unturned in the development of Bengal. Ambani said that Reliance has so far invested about Rs 45,000 crore in Bengal.
Big investment in telecom and retail
Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance’s telecom unit Jio is taking 5G to every corner of the state, especially rural areas. Most parts of Bengal have been included in its scope. Jio’s network covers 98.8 percent of the population in the state and 100 percent of the population in Kolkata Telecom Circle. Ambani said that Jio’s strong network will promote education, health services and agriculture on a large scale along with employment in West Bengal.
Along with this, he said that Reliance’s retail unit Reliance Retail is planning to open about 200 new stores in West Bengal in the next two years. Currently, around 1,000 Reliance stores are active in Bengal, which will increase to 1,200 after expansion. Ambani said that hundreds of small and medium enterprises of Bengal and about 5.5 lakh grocery shopkeepers are associated with our retail business. They will benefit from the opening of new shops.
100 biogas plants in 3 years
Referring to bio energy, he said that Reliance will set up 100 compressed biogas plants in the next three years where 55 lakh tonnes of agricultural and organic waste will be consumed. This will help in reducing about 20 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions and will produce 25 lakh tonnes of organic fertilizer annually. He also mentioned the work being done in the state by Reliance Foundation.
These also include the renovation and restoration of the famous Kalighat temple of Kolkata. Reliance Foundation is doing the work of repair and beautification of this centuries old temple. Reliance Foundation will set up a training center for the young generation of craftsmen in Bengal with the help of the state government. Also, the products of weavers, artisans and handicraftsmen will be sold through Reliance Retail shops.
