Jain-owned GQG Partners made a bold bet of Rs 15,446 crore on the shares of the troubled Adani Group. And this bet brought very good results for him. He has got an excellent return of 20 per cent or more than 3,100 crores in just two days.
How much has the value of the investment increased?
The market value of Jain’s investment in the shares of four Adani group companies has increased to Rs 18,548 crore. These companies include Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, Adani Green Energy and Adani Transmission. With this, he has got a total profit of Rs 3,102 crore.
After the report of Hindenburg Research, there was a huge decline in Adani’s shares for a month. At the same time, $ 92 billion fund GQG Partners bought shares in four companies owned by billionaire Gautam Adani. He believed that the shares of these companies have good growth potential in the long term.
At what price were the shares bought?
Jain had on Thursday bought shares of Adani Enterprises at a price of Rs 1,410.86 in a block deal. Since then, there has been a jump of 33 per cent in the share price. Due to this, he has got a profit of Rs 1,813 crore on Nifty stock.
Similarly, Adani Ports was bought at Rs 596.2, Adani Green Energy at Rs 504.6 and Adani Transmission at Rs 668.4. Shares of GQG Partners, which are listed in Australia, closed down three per cent on Friday after investing in Adani Group companies. Adani Group companies were accused of fraud related to stock market manipulation and accounting in the Hindenburg report.
