After this, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra where 15 thousand 271 and 14 thousand 371 cases were registered respectively. West Bengal is at number four, where 10 thousand 248 cases of crime against children were reported. However, the report also states that in the year 2020, the maximum crime against children has increased in West Bengal. There was a 63 percent jump in crimes against children here.

Increase in crime against women in Bengal

The report said that the total crimes against women in the country decreased by 8.3% in 2020 as compared to 2019. A total of 3,71,503 cases of crime against women were registered in 2020, a decrease of 8.3% from 4,05,326 cases in 2019, while West Bengal and Odisha saw the highest increase in crimes against women in 2020 as compared to 2019 Went. On the other hand, the number of cases in Delhi decreased from 13,395 in 2019 to 10,093 in 2020. Uttar Pradesh has seen the sharpest decline. Cases in UP decreased from 59,853 in 2019 to 49,385 in 2020.

Crime rate against children in Bengal is 34 percent

According to the 2011 census, the population of children in West Bengal is about 30 million. At the same time, the rate of crime against children in the state is 34 percent, which is lower than many other states. The crime rate against children in Delhi is around 91 percent. According to NCRB data, in the year 2020, 69 children were murdered inside West Bengal, while 6 were raped and killed. In Uttar Pradesh, however, 289 children were murdered and in Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra 151 and 170 children were put to death respectively.

Bengal is number two in kidnapping of children

West Bengal is second in terms of kidnapping of children. In Maharashtra, where 7 thousand 392 children were abducted in the year 2020, in West Bengal this figure was 7 thousand 79. In Madhya Pradesh, 7 thousand 58 children were kidnapped during this period. The report also revealed that in the year 2018, 6286 cases of crime against children were reported in Bengal. In the year 2019, it reduced to 6 thousand 191 and then in 2020 it has increased to 10 thousand 248. On the other hand, Tamil Nadu reported a 44 per cent increase in cases, followed by Jammu and Kashmir at 28 per cent, Rajasthan at 27 per cent. In Jharkhand and Odisha, such cases have increased by 21 percent.
