Volkswagen Tigun has been officially launched in the Indian car market at a starting price of Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Tigun GT Line price starts at Rs.14.99 Lakh (Ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs.17.49 Lakh (Ex-showroom). The Volkswagen Tigun enters an attractive yet competitive mid-size SUV space with the German auto giant looking to carve a niche for itself here.

It shares the platform with the recently launched Skoda Kushak. Built on the MQB A0 IN platform, the Taigun is not only a favorite of Volkswagen fans but also an option that can attract new customers. The concept version of the car was first showcased at the 2019 Auto Expo and the production version retains a lot of flavour.
Engine and Transmission Options of Volkswagen Tigun
The Taigun comes with two TSI petrol engine options. These are the 1.0-litre unit and the 1.5-litre motor. The former is mated to a manual gearbox as well as a 6-speed automatic unit. The more powerful engine gets a manual as well as a DSG automatic unit.
Volkswagen Tigun has been made available in 6 different color options. These are yellow, white, blue, red, gray and black. The Tigun comes with Smart Chrome Edition on its exterior body and while the horizontal lines on the front grille are quite familiar, the face gets a youth appeal thanks to the LED head lights and DRL units. The car comes on 17- and 16-inch alloy wheels, depending on the variant and also gets a funky LED tail light design. The Tigun also boasts of the longest wheelbase in the segment.
How is the interior of the Taigun
The Tigun gets a 10.1-inch VW Play touchscreen infotainment system and an all-digital eight-inch digital cockpit which is the largest in the segment. There is support for wireless app connect via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while there are 6 speakers around the vehicle. Other feature highlights include a sunroof, wireless mobile charging and voice-command recognition. The cabin is mostly well built and offers a decent level of seat cushioning and space. The red colored ambient lighting scheme adds to the premium touch.
Volkswagen Tigun will compete with these cars
The list of competitors of Taigun is quite long. This will be a challenge for the segment leader Hyundai Creta and will also create problems for Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier and MG Hector. Apart from this, Skoda will also compete with Kushak and the upcoming MG Aster.
