These penny stocks, including RLF Ltd, rocked, closed in the upper circuit

MumbaiAfter registering gains in the last two sessions, today the benchmark index Sensex and Nifty 50 opened in the red zone. SGX Nifty marked a negative start for the broader index in India with a fall of 40 points. As expected, the BSE Sensex was trading 1.03% lower at 51,988.61 at 9:45 am. On Sensex, Maruti Suzuki was the only stock to trade in the green zone. While Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv and Tech Mahindra were taking the market down in the opening session. If we look at the broader market, BSE Midcap was trading 1.20% down at 21,250.62 level while Smallcap index was also trading 0.85% down at 23,916.08 level.

The Nifty 50 index was trading 1.10% lower at 15,466.35 points. On the Nifty 50 index, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp and Maruti Suzuki were trading in the green, while top losers included Hindalco Industries, JSW Steel Ltd and UPL Ltd.

Crude oil has slipped further to $110 a barrel. Hence, energy stocks are likely to remain under pressure. As a result, the BSE Energy Index fell nearly 2%. All sectoral indices fell in morning trade, with BSE Metals being the worst hit sector. It lost over 3.40%, led by shares of National Aluminum Company Ltd, JSW Steel and Hindalco Industries Ltd falling over 4.5%. On the other hand, auto-sector names saw gains.
