Mumbai: Sensex and Nifty 50 gained marginally on Friday. The stock market was strengthened by gains in metal and healthcare sectors. Domestic indicators like Sensex and Nifty 50 outperformed despite mixed global cues. On the BSE, 1708 shares rose while 1360 shares declined. There was no change in 116 shares during this period. The BSE Sensex is up by 248.13 points at the level of 57,769.19. Sun Pharmaceuticals, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the biggest gainers in the Sensex. On the other hand, Axis Bank, Wipro Ltd., Power Grid Corporation of India, Asian Paints and ITC Ltd were the biggest losers. The BSE Midcap gained 78.10 points and was trading at 24,694.57, while the Smallcap index was trading 40.79 points higher at 28,818.83.
Nifty 50 index also opened with a positive note and is trading at 17,290 points. Nifty Bank was trading 49.40 points higher at 36,471.60 points. Sun Pharmaceuticals, Tata Steel and HDFC Life Insurance Company were the top gainers on the Nifty 50 index. On the other hand, Axis Bank, Adani Ports and Space Economic Zone and SBI Life Insurance Company declined.
