Tata Motors and Tata Power on Wednesday entered in a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to ascertain a 4 MWp on-site photo voltaic undertaking at Tata Motors’ Pune plant.
The set up is collectively anticipated to generate 5.8 million items of electrical energy, doubtlessly mitigating over 10 lakh tonnes of carbon emission, said a press launch.
“It has been our continuous endeavour to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve Net Zero Emission goal. We have been exploring different avenues and business models for using renewable energy to promote sustainable business growth. In FY22, the total renewable energy contribution at our CV Pune plant was 32 percent. With this agreement, we reaffirm our commitment to moving closer to our goals of cultivating 100% renewable energy capacity,” stated Alok Kumar Singh, Plant Head, Commercial Vehicle Manufacturing Facility, Tata Motors.
Tata Motors said that the step has been taken by the corporate to extend the proportion of renewable vitality utilization in its operations.
In FY22, throughout all its crops in India, the corporate generated 92.39 million kWh of renewable electrical energy for its manufacturing operations, which is nineteen.4% of the overall energy consumption resulting in avoidance of 72,992 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equal and monetary saving of Rs. 27.37 crore.
