Toyota Rumion 7 Seater
Toyota Motor has revealed the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga-based seven-seater Rumion MPV in South Africa, making it the third model from Maruti Suzuki to be sold under the Toyota brand. The other two Maruti Suzuki models sold as Toyota’s rebadge models include the Glanza and Urban Cruiser based on the Maruti Baleno and the Maruti Vitara Brezza, respectively.
The Toyota Rumion clearly looks similar to the Maruti Ertiga MPV sold in the Indian market and is popular in the rest of the segments as well. Without any mechanical changes, the Rumion gets a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that does the duty on the Ertiga as well. The engine generates maximum power of 77 kW at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 138 Nm at 4,400 rpm. It comes with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
what is special
The Toyota Rumion has the same bold stance as the Maruti Ertiga. The MPV gets a front grille which is spread across the angular halogen headlights and front fog lamps. The long roofline has sloping A-pillars to enhance its identity as a big vehicle.
The Rumion MPV offers ample space for passengers as well as more luggage space with 550-litres of boot space. The vehicle allows splitting of the second row seats in the ratio of 60:40 and the third row seats flat to accommodate large items like bicycles. The interiors get a black theme with silver accents and faux wood trims on the dashboard.
Talking about the interiors, all its doors are electrically operated. The touchscreen infotainment system comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality. In addition, they can be operated wirelessly using the Bluetooth functionality. A multi-mode display shows trip information such as fuel consumption, average speed and outside temperature.
The Toyota Rumion comes with standard safety features such as airbags for the driver and front passenger, rear doors fitted with child lock, anti-lock-brake and electronic brake-force distribution. Toyota may introduce the rebadged Rumion MPV in the Indian market in future but there is no official confirmation from the company yet.
