Dark Edition of Tata Safari will come soon, know what will be special in it

The upcoming Tata Safari Dark Edition will get an all-black exterior and interior treatment like the Harrier Dark Edition.

Tata Motors has recently been enjoying a lot of success in the Indian car market thanks to its ‘New Forever’ range of cars. To capitalize on the success of their existing vehicles, car manufacturers have also launched special variants of them. This strategy certainly seems to be working, as Tata keeps on introducing new variants from time to time.

According to a recent report, the Tata Safari is slated to receive a dark variant variant early next year like the Altroz, Nexon and Harrier. The Dark Edition Safari will get an all-black exterior including a blacked-out front grille and charcoal black alloy wheels. All the chrome bits on the vehicle will be replaced with piano black elements. The cabin of the Safari Dark Edition will get the same treatment as the Harrier Dark Edition.

This will include a black interior color scheme and Beneke Calico leatherette upholstery with “#dark” branding on the seats. Also, the tri-arrow pattern mesh will be available on the ventilated seats. However, there will be no mechanical changes in the vehicle.

Tata Safari comes with a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, inline-4 diesel engine under the hood. This powerplant produces 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak power and torque respectively and can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. The Safari is only available in a front-wheel-drive configuration, unfortunately, and there is no concrete scheme for the all-wheel-drive model.

It should be noted that the Safari already has a few special variant variants – the Adventure Persona and the Gold variant. The former has been available since launch, while the latter went on sale only a few months back. The addition of the Dark Edition will further expand the range of the SUV and is likely to attract a lot of new buyers.

The Tata Safari is currently priced between Rs 14.99 Lakh to Rs 23.19 Lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). We do not expect that the upcoming Dark Edition variant will cost more than the Gold Edition variant, rather they will be priced at par with the Adventure Persona variant. However, this is only speculation and we can confirm it only after the official launch of the Safari Dark variant.
