The bookings for Kia Carens in India will start from January 14, while the price announcement is expected around February-March. The Carence will be Kia’s fourth product in India to be manufactured here exclusively for both domestic and export purposes. Kia has left the SUV trend behind, adopting a unique approach with the caravan calling it a ‘recreational vehicle’.
The company claims that it has a large wheelbase, which creates comfort for the riders even with big breakers. Along with this, more space is also available for the people sitting inside. Also, three colors Silver, Brown and Blue have been given in this car.
Chrome edition is present in the side doors. Also, there is a lot of space in this car to keep bottles and other types of items. There is a separate space for hanging air fresheners.
Kia Carens Features and Design
It also gets a new touch-based panel and ambient light underlining with toggle switch for HVAC control. The center console is smaller and gets additional control controls for seat ventilation, drive mode, etc. The Carens will be available in both 6- and 7-seat configurations.
In terms of features, the Carnes 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Kia’s UVO Connect, a fully digital instrument cluster, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, 64-colour ambient light, ventilated front The seats come equipped with a seat-back table with cup holders, electrically powered one-touch tumble down feature for the second row, single-pan sunroof. Safety onboard includes standard six airbags, and many other features like ABS and ESC, hill-start assist, disc brakes on all four wheels, TPMS and rear parking sensors.
Kia Carense: Engine and Gearbox Details
The Kia Carens will get the option of two petrol and one diesel unit. The first is a 115hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that will only be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It will be powered by a 140hp, 242Nm, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Apart from this, the diesel unit is 115hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre mill and will be offered with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. These engine-gearbox combinations are the same as those offered on the Kia Seltos.
Expected price of Kia Carens
The Kia Carens will compete with the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700 in the Indian automobile market. All these cars have been launched in India this year and are priced from Rs. 20 lakhs. There is a lot to innovate in the three row SUV segment as there are very limited options available in this segment. Kia Carens will be manufactured in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
