Bike Taxi Service In Delhi : Cab aggregator companies like Uber and Rapido have got a big relief from the Delhi High Court. The court has put a stay on the notice of the Delhi Transport Department. In this notice, a demand was made to ban the service of these companies. Along with this, the court has said that no strict action should be taken against these companies.
Let us tell you that the Delhi government had banned the two-wheeler rental service. This affected other cab aggregators including Ola-Uber. According to the government, the rules of transport were being violated by the bike cab service.
Relief to bike taxi service till new policy comes
Now a bench of Justice Suresh Kumar and Justice Nina Bansal Krishna has directed the Transport Department not to take any action against these companies until a policy is made for cab aggregators.

According to ET, on behalf of Rapido, Abhishek Awasthi has said that according to the order of the High Court, strictness will not be shown against Rapido bikes and its riders in Delhi. This will remain so until the government comes up with a new policy for bike taxis. With the decision of the High Court, the difficulties of bike taxi drivers will also be reduced.
Why did Rapido-Uber bike service stop?
In February 2023, companies providing bike taxi service were banned in Delhi. According to the Transport Department, the bikes with private registration numbers were being used for the bike-taxi service of Ola-Uber. It is against the Commercial Operation and Motor Vehicle Act 1988. The Delhi government had announced a fine of Rs 1 lakh and jail term for using private bikes as a rental service.
