The month of November has not been special for the auto sector. During this period, sales of most auto companies have seen a decline. The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India’s total vehicle sales declined by nine per cent to 1,39,184 units in November. Production was affected due to shortage of electronic parts.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) said in a statement that the company had sold a total of 1,53,223 units in the same month last year. Last month’s overall domestic sales declined by 18 per cent to 1,17,791 units as compared to 1,44,219 units in November, 2020. Maruti said, “Lack of electronic parts had a minor impact on the production of vehicles during the month. The shortage mainly affected the production of vehicles sold in the domestic market. The company has taken all possible measures to minimize the impact.
Hyundai Motor India sales down 21 percent
Hyundai Motor India Limited’s (HMIL) total sales declined 21 percent to 46,910 units in November. The company gave this information on Wednesday. The company said in a statement that the company had sold 59,200 units in the same month last year. HMIL said that domestic sales in November this year declined by 24 percent to 37,001 units as compared to 48,800 units in November 2020. Exports declined by five per cent to 9,909 units in November 2021 as compared to 10,400 units in November last year. The company said that the reason for the impact of sales is due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage problem.
Mahindra’s sales also decreased
Mahindra & Mahindra’s (M&M) total vehicle sales in November declined 6 percent to 40,102 units. The company gave this information on Wednesday. The company said in a statement that it had sold 42,731 units in November 2020. Mahindra & Mahindra’s passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market increased by 7 percent to 19,458 units last month as compared to 18,212 units in November, 2020. In the commercial vehicle segment, the company sold 17,543 vehicles in the domestic market last month, which is 23 percent lower as compared to 22,883 units in November, 2020. Last month, the company’s exports increased by 90 percent to 3,101 units from 1,636 units in the same month a year ago.
Bajaj Auto sales down by 10%
Bajaj Auto said on Wednesday that its total sales declined by 10 percent to 3,79,276 units in November, 2021. The company sold 4,22,240 vehicles in the same month a year ago. Bajaj Auto said in a statement that domestic sales fell by 20 per cent to 1,58,755 units last month from 1,98,933 units in November last year. Total two-wheeler sales declined by 12 per cent to 3,38,473 units as compared to 3,84,993 units in the same period a year ago.
However, total commercial vehicle sales increased by 10 per cent to 40,803 units as against 37,247 units in the same month last year. Last month, the company’s exports declined marginally by one percent to 2,20,521 units as against 2,23,307 units in the same month last year.
